Digital Thoughtful Log

Toward the end of the year I began experimenting with digital thoughtful logs since my school is a 1:1 iPad site. Students were already familiar with Book Creator, so we used Book Creator to house our digital thoughtful logs. I like Book Creator for my kinder kids because it's user-friendly. There are definitely more "high-tech" apps out there for housing thoughtful logs, but I haven't found as much success because it takes so much effort to teach my kiddos how to use the app (oh, the joys of kindergarten!).

I'm new to blogging, so I'm not sure the best way to upload things yet. Cameron's Thoughtful Log is in iBooks (not sure if you have to have this in order to see it - sorry!). Click on the link and it will take you to Google Drive where you can download the file. There is a sound component to my kids' thoughtful logs which I find extremely helpful since my students are really just beginning to use writing as a way to share thinking.

One more thing - I find that in the primary grades (especially kindergarten), digital thoughtful logs are wonderful, but that paper/pencil thoughtful logs are essential as well. I still want my students to be practicing their writing skills.

Here's some screenshots of Thoughtful Log Entries (sorry no sound):
