About Me

Hello! My name is Claire Hauser. I teach in Waukesha, WI.

Update: I am so excited that my role has changed for the 2016-2017 school year! I had the special opportunity to join a cohort of teachers in my school district in becoming a Reading Recovery teacher. I am in my training year, attending class with my colleagues and teacher leader, and beginning to implement Reading Recovery in my new school.  The other part of my new role is as an interventionist, working within the Comprehensive Intervention Model. I work mainly with second grade students in this role. Whereas my blog was a way for me to share my ideas regarding the Comprehensive Literacy Model (as a classroom teacher), my new role will focus more on the Comprehensive Intervention Model and how to accelerate the progress of struggling readers.

Previously, I taught literacy for kindergarten students in Waukesha, WI. Two years ago my district began implementing Comprehensive Literacy. Linda Dorn and Carla Soffos came to our school district and trained us in topics including language workshop, thoughtful logs, word study, and guided reading (plus). This blog is my way of sharing my learning and what goes on in my teaching. Last year I completed my Reading Specialist license. I am deeply interested in best practice in literacy and creating curriculum. My goal is to become a reading specialist or interventionist to hone my skills.
